The ERC Youth Entrepreneurship Education Summit featured a full-day business conference with interactive workshops, breakout sessions, a keynote luncheon, and networking opportunities for our youth.

Business lessons were abundant at the Kern High School District’s first all-day business conference for students, the Youth Entrepreneurship Education Summit. Hundreds of seventh- to 12th-graders gathered Friday at the district’s Entrepreneurship Resource Center in the Career Technical Education Center, where they enjoyed opportunities to learn from local professionals on topics like human resources, marketing and finance.

A highlight video of career pathways in Kern County

At the 32nd annual Beautiful Bakersfield Awards, Angel Cottrell was nominated and recognized in the Education category for her work with the Entrepreneurship Resource Centers.

This year, teams from three Bakersfield high schools placed top-five nationally in the most exalted competition: business planning. A team from Ridgeview High took fourth; fifth went to a Centennial High VE business — out of nearly 500 teams from across the country.

Summer enrollment is now open! Entrepreneurship Mindset Summer Camp will run one week sessions. Each student chooses either the morning session at ROC OR the afternoon session at CTEC.

Virtual Enterprise students throughout the state visited CTEC on January 27 and 28 to attend the first in-person Virtual Enterprise State Competition in California in two years.
